APUS Entrepreneurship Programs Receive ACBSP Accreditation

Charles Town, WV, April 26, 2016American Public University System today announced that both its undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship programs have received specialized accreditation from the Board of Commissioners of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

The distinction makes fully-online APUS one of the nation’s few institutions to offer ACBSP-accredited BA and MA entrepreneurship programs solely focused on this specialized field of study, according to Program Director Cassandra Shaw.

“We’re very proud to receive ACBSP accreditation for yet another of our most sought-after business programs,” said Shaw.  “This validates that our quality instruction, programs, and focus on learning outcomes fully meet its rigorous educational standards and reflects just a portion of the many continuing enhancements we have made across the School of Business over the last several years.”

The recognition follows an ACBSP site visit to review and certify the programs and faculty credentials as presented in APUS’s self-study. All entrepreneurship program faculty are practitioners in their field, have a terminal degree, and have been recognized for their professional contributions such as presentations, publications, and community service.

“All our courses were reviewed to demonstrate their overall compliance with the 11 core professional components put forth by ACBSP,” added Dr. Chad Patrizi, dean of the School of Business. “As with our past program assessments, our entrepreneurship programs met or exceeded these requirements, signifying that our students receive career-relevant education that helps prepare them to begin or advance in their chosen business profession.”

The B.A. in Entrepreneurship encompasses idea generation, marketing, management, operations, capital funding, and the legal aspects of beginning a new venture, while the M.A. in Entrepreneurship focuses on the practical application of theory and the entrepreneurial experience. Each provides specialized knowledge taught by faculty practitioners and is regularly reviewed by an advisory council of industry experts for relevancy to today’s marketplace.
