Effective January 1, 2011, all investigators, students, and research staff conducting research with human subjects must complete CITI Training PRIOR to submitting their IRB application. Research will not be approved until the training requirements are met. Documentation of training must be provided to the IRB Office with all new applications or renewals.
- Log onto the CITI Website to complete the training (You will be able to create your own username and password)
- Follow the instructions for Registering for the CITI Course (PDF)
- Complete the Social and Behavioral Research Investigators Course
CITI Training is REQUIRED and applicants who fail to complete the training will NOT be approved.
Each module may take from 10 to 30 minutes to complete, and most contain a quiz. The modules do not have to be completed all in one login session. A minimum aggregate score of 80 percent is required to pass.
Note: Other HSR training completed at other institutions within the last 3 years may meet this training requirement. Follow the instructions for registering for the CITI course. Credit for modules already completed will be applied. If you have additional questions, please contact the IRB Office at [email protected] for more information.
